A Joyful August Wedding at Sacred Heart Church, Twickenham
What a gorgeous celebration this was! Ben and his lovely bride, Daisy tied the knot at the beautiful Sacred Heart Church in Twickenham, near London, surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of laughter. As a female candid wedding photographer, it’s those genuine, unscripted moments that tell a story all of their own.
The Sacred Heart Church itself is a true gem in southwest London in Twickenham. Built in the late 19th century and designed by Frederick Walters, it’s a fine example of Gothic Revival architecture. With its soaring arches, intricate stained glass, and light-filled interior, it’s a place that feels both grand and deeply personal.
How did you choose your venue?
For this couple, the choice was easy. This is Daisy’s local church in Twickenham, and has always held a special place in her heart, so it was the perfect setting for their heartfelt ceremony. For Daisy, it was particularly important as this has been her church since she was a child, she had her first communion here and attends church so this holds many happy memories. The ceremony and the reception were all held at the church, which was a wonderful intimate affair with just family and close friends.
What part of the wedding process were you most excited about?
Both Ben and Daisy were most excited about having their smiles and love for each other captured those authentic, candid moments that truly reflect their personalities. As a documentary wedding photographer, these are exactly the kinds of shots I adore: real emotions, joy, and laughter that comes straight from the heart.
The Proposal
Ben’s proposal was as creative as it was romantic! He popped the question during a glass-making workshop, which was actually a belated birthday date. Amongst molten glass, laughter, and a bit of artistic chaos, he asked the all-important question and, of course, she said yes!
Choosing the Date
The couple didn’t have a particular date in mind; they simply wanted an August summer wedding filled with light and warmth and the weather certainly delivered! We were able to go over the road to some beautiful gardens for some bride and groom portraits, in addition to the ones taken in the church.
Finding the Dress
It only took a couple of weeks to find the dress, a beautiful high-street find that was both affordable and effortlessly elegant. The bride chose an ivory gown that perfectly complemented her skin tone. Her top tip for other brides? “Ivory always looks great, soft, flattering, and timeless.”
The Wedding Style
The theme for the day was yellow, cheerful, bright, and full of joy. The bouquet was made with beautiful yellow roses and baby’s breath, simple but beautiful. From the groom’s suit accessories to the flowers and even the cake, everything tied together perfectly. Both the bride and groom wore ivory, creating a wonderfully cohesive and classic look.
Personal Touches
The couple added lovely, personal details to make the day truly their own. Guests were treated to same-day photo magnet gifts, and a custom cake topper made everyone smile. The gift magnets were made using one of the wedding photos and the bestman and usher quickly made them after the ceremony, a really unique gift. The cake topper was a cute little ‘man and wife’ set of mice complete with yellow flowers, very original. It’s those thoughtful touches that make every wedding unique, and as a candid wedding photographer, they’re a dream to capture.
Fun & Memorable Moments
The couple hired a magician, who went down an absolute storm with the guests! The Ginger Magician entertained guests while the wedding breakfast was being prepared and we were out doing a few bride and groom portraits.
One particularly funny moment came during the ring exchange when Ben struggled to slide the ring onto Daisy’s finger, she gave it an enthusiastic push and quipped, “In the name of the Father, Son, and shove Holy Spirit!” The entire church burst into laughter, a moment no one will forget!
Favourite Wedding Photo
Their favourite image? A close-up from the ceremony, just after the bride placed the ring on Ben’s finger both of them smiling from ear to ear. It’s a photo that perfectly sums up the happiness of the day, captured in true candid wedding photography style.

Advice for Newly Engaged Couples
Their top tip for couples planning their big day? “If you can, give guests two confetti cones each, one for each hand! The more confetti, the better the photos. And if you’re going for bubbles, get a bubble machine, the wind takes them away fast, so you’ll want plenty!”
Here’s what Daisy had to say
Wow Myriame, Very pleased, the ceremony has great shots of us. The church looks so sharp with nice photos with Father Stephen too. You’re so friendly, it was a great experience all the time with you, many thanks.
