Karen & Naill’s Fabulous Richmond Park Engagement Shoot with Milo, the delightful fur baby

There’s something incredibly special about springtime in Richmond Park — the colours are brighter, the air feels lighter, and love is most definitely in bloom. So when Karen and Naill arrived with their adorable dog Milo, for their pre-wedding session, I just knew we were in for something magical!

Karen and Naill are the kind of couple who simply light up in each other’s presence. From the moment we started, there were laughs, stolen glances, and the kind of connection that makes photographing love feel effortless. Milo, their energetic and ever-curious cocker spaniel, was the cherry on top – bounding along, occasionally stealing the spotlight, and bringing pure joy to every frame.  He settled down once he was given his ball to play with, he is gorgeous and means a great deal to Karin and Naill.

We wandered through the park’s winding trails, stopping to soak up the riot of colour from the blooming azaleas and rhododendrons. The chemistry between these two was undeniable – relaxed, happy, and so clearly in love. Whether they were cuddled up on a bench or sharing a quiet moment beneath the trees, Karen and Naill’s warmth just radiated.

This session was the perfect reminder of why I adore Surrey engagement photography. It’s not just about snapping a few portraits – it’s about capturing genuine moments, the in-between laughter, and the way two people simply fit. Throw a waggy-tailed dog like Milo into the mix, and it becomes a celebration of love, adventure, and everything that’s to come.

I can’t wait to capture Karen and Naill’s big day at Latimer Estate – if it’s anything like this fun day, it’s going to be an absolute dream.  Here’s their love story in their words:

Share how you met and your proposal story:

We met on Hinge the dating app! Our first trip away together was to St Ives in Cornwall and we went again in May 2024, where we took a walk on the beach with our dog Milo, and that’s where Niall got down on one knee and proposed to me!

How did you feel in the run-up to your pre-wedding engagement session? Were you excited, nervous or a bit of both?

A bit of both, we had never done anything like this

What was your experience like on the day? Did you have fun?

We did have fun and are very glad we got the chance to do this before our big day

How did you feel in front of the camera?

I felt quite comfortable, but Niall did feel a bit awkward at times as he isn’t always a photo person! But after a while he got a bit more comfortable

Were there any moments during the session that really stood out for you? *

There was a time where we got to take lots of photos with no one around or looking, and this was white special for us

Did you find the session helpful in getting to know your photographer?

Yes very helpful, would highly recommend anyone to do this

How did you feel when you saw the final photos?

We absolutely loved them! So so happy with them

Do you have a favourite image and why that one?

There’s one where Niall and I are sat in bluebells with our dog Milo, and we love it because it shows our little family together.

Have you used any of your photos for anything special? ie invites, wedding website, guest books or frames

We have added some on to our wedding website

Would you recommend having a pre-wedding photo session to other couples? Do you have any advice for other couples?

Yes absolutely – it’s the best thing to do before the big day as you get to know what to expect for the big day. I would say enjoy it and relax!

Did the session make you feel more relaxed about having your photo’s taken on your wedding day?

Yes absolutely

Any advice you would give other couples ahead of their pre-wedding photo session?

Enjoy it!
