A Colourful Spring Engagement Shoot at Isabella Plantation
by Myriame Lawley – Female Wedding & Engagement Photographer in London

Spring in London is pure magic — and Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park is one of the city’s best-kept secrets for couples planning an engagement shoot. As a London engagement photographer, I absolutely love capturing this season of colour, romance, and soft light, and this session was a perfect example of why.

This gorgeous couple chose Isabella Plantation for their engagement shoot, and it couldn’t have been a better setting. With its vibrant azaleas, blooming rhododendrons, and peaceful woodland paths, it’s a dream backdrop for natural and relaxed engagement photography.

They were full of fun and love — laughing together, exploring hand in hand, and sharing little moments that made for the most beautiful, candid photographs. Her blue floral dress popped perfectly against the riot of pink blossoms, and the connection between them was effortless and genuine. These two made my job so easy!

As a female photographer based in London, my style is all about storytelling. I look for the unposed, honest moments — the real smiles and little glances that say more than words ever could. Whether it’s a walk through springtime blooms or a quiet moment by the pond, I want your engagement photos to feel like you.

If you’re planning a pre-wedding shoot in London and looking for something colourful, romantic and totally stress-free, Isabella Plantation in spring is an unbeatable choice. I’d love to help you celebrate your story, your way.

Katherine & Cainan’s Love Story

Share how you met and your proposal story:

We met at Ascot races through mutual friends and bonded over our love of the Spice Girls tribute band! Cainan proposed in the Dominican Republic last summer in front of our gorgeous swim-up pool.

How did you feel in the run-up to your pre-wedding engagement session? Were you excited, nervous or a bit of both?

A bit of both – excited to get some lovely photos together but a bit nervous about looking awkward!

What was your experience like on the day? Did you have fun?

We had a lot of fun and loved getting to wander around the Isabella Plantation.

How did you feel in front of the camera?

A bit awkward to begin with and in some poses but we definitely relaxed as we went along!

Were there any moments during the session that really stood out for you? *

We loved when you asked Cainan to say something to make me laugh – that was a really great photo and a funny moment with what Cainan chose to say!

Did you find the session helpful in getting to know your photographer?

Yes very helpful, it was lovely getting to know Myriame and her lovely dog!

How did you feel when you saw the final photos?

Quite emotional – it’s really nice to have some proper photos together and the colours have come out beautifully.

Do you have a favourite image and why that one?

Probably the one where Cainan said something to make me laugh! I also love the one leaning on the fence and the ones on the tree stump as they look quite natural and have some lovely colours.

Have you used any of your photos for anything special? ie invites, wedding website, guest books or frames

Not yet but I think we will get the guest book with the photos and will definitely be getting some printed to frame – my friends gave us some frames as an engagement present so want to print them to put in those frames.

Would you recommend having a pre-wedding photo session to other couples? Do you have any advice for other couples?

Yes definitely, it made us really get used to having photos together and gave us a lovely experience in our wedding preparation!

Did the session make you feel more relaxed about having your photo’s taken on your wedding day?

Yes definitely, now I feel like we know what poses look good and we’ll feel less worried about photos on the day!

Any advice you would give other couples ahead of their pre-wedding photo session?

Just to go with an open mind and don’t worry if there’s people around – you’re never going to see them again! Enjoy the experience and getting some lovely photos together.
