Engagement Shoots

Hampshire Engagement Photographer – Emily and Luke

Emily and Luke chose a beautiful June evening on Lepe Beach in Southampton for their engagement photoshoot.  It’s a great location for a Hampshire engagement photoshoot, firstly, there is easy parking  (Boring I know but incredibly handy!) and secondly the beach is long and during weekday evenings not too crowded.

Engagement Photography on Lepe Beach

Lepe Beach is a stony beach that forms part of Lepe Country Park, that has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty due to its pine-fringed cliffs and wild flower meadows.  It enjoys views across to the Isle of Wight.  As if all that isn’t enough, historically rich Lepe Beach has visible signs of the D-Day activities. On this beautifully sunny evening in June the beach had enjoyed glorious sunshine all day making the sea beautifully blue, calm and warm. Honestly, looking at the sea you could have believed we were in the Mediterranean.

Emily and Luke are beach lovers and visit Lepe Beach often.  For engagement photography, I always recommend my couples choose a location that’s familiar and special to them as a couple.  This is because people tend to relax in familiar surroundings and are quicker to forget about the camera and just enjoy the moment. And this was certainly the case with Emily and Luke who quickly relaxed into the photo shoot allowing me to get some really authentic images.

Why Engagement Photography is such a good idea

Most of us aren’t used to being photographed, so an engagement photoshoot is a chance for couples to learn to relax in front of the camera.  So that when it comes to the wedding day, couples are so used to me photographing them that they barely notice I’m there.  You can add an engagement photo shoot or family photo shoot as part of your wedding collection. https://myriamelawley.co.uk/family-event-pricing/

It means that by the time it comes to me capturing their wedding, my couples who have had an engagement photo shoot are already relaxed around me.  The reunion for them feels more like catching up with a trusted friend and you can’t have too many of those on your wedding day!

Relaxed, Natural Engagement Photography

I always go for a natural look of a couple just enjoying a walk and one another’s company,   as they might ordinarily do on a sunny evening.  This approach really suits my natural and unobtrusive style of photography.

I spent such a lovely hour on Lepe Beach with Emily and Luke and I know they were thrilled with their photos.  Many of my couples go on to use the images from their engagement photo shoot in their wedding stationery.

Talking of weddings, Emily and Luke are getting married in August at nearby Rownham House, a beautiful Georgian House that sits in 12 acres of garden, magical woodland and a serene lake.  It also has a gothic style coach house and its iconic Grade II listed ice house which is fantastic for unique wedding photos.  You can tell from my excited tone that it’s a real favourite for Hampshire wedding photographers.  In fact, I think I’m looking forward to it as much as Emily and Luke are!

So, if like Emily and Luke, you think an engagement photo shoot could be perfect for you.  Feel free to get in touch.  As an experienced Hampshire and Surrey wedding photographer, I can recommend some great locations.
