Engagement photography

Engagement photo shoots are a great way of capturing newly engaged couples in a natural and stress free environment.

Engagement photography in London, Hampshire and Surrey

Being based in Surrey I can easily travel to clients in the London, Hampshire and Surrey area. I have many photography hotspots which I use for engagement photo shoots based on what kind of photos a couple may want. Talk to me to discuss which area and locations we can take your engagement photos.

Why choose myriame Lawley for your engagement shoot?

Engagement shoots are a great & fun way to get used to having your photos taken.
It can be quite daunting having your photos taken, however rest assured, I will put you totally at ease and before you know it you will be relaxed and enjoying yourselves.
I will share some posing tips with you for your bridal portraits, so on the day of your wedding you feel comfortable and get beautiful, natural images.
Engagement sessions are a stress-free session where you can let your hair down, get to know how I work and I get insight into how the two of you interact with each other, so I can capture little moments and deliver beautiful images you will simply love.

Engagement photography hotspots

My favourite engagement photography hotspot in Hampshire is Devils Punch Bowl, National Trust Hindhead.
love this venue for the open space, wooded areas and sweeping views over the county which suit my style of photography. I love clear backgrounds and backgrounds that allow for wide aperture images. This is an all the year-round favourite spot, be that early spring through to the beautiful autumn colours, the area just lends itself so well to engagement sessions. There is plenty of parking, a café and loos so you can always have a cup of tea and enjoy the views after your photo session or go for a walk and explore the history of the area.

In the Bluebell season I love doing engagement shoots at Staffhurst Wood near Oxted or Banstead Woods in Surrey. The softness of the light and the stunning carpets of bluebells and new green tree leaves make for truly gorgeous, romantic images and so different from any other time of the year.

Another of my favourite engagement hotspots is Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park, Surrey, especially during April and May when the azalea’s are in full bloom and the park is just a riot of magnificent pink, purple, red and white flowers. Couples are always totally blown away when they see the sight of the flowers especially if they have not visited the park before. It’s lovely for big scene shots with mature old oak trees, ponds and lots of winding pathways.

Mayfield Lavender Farm in Banstead, Surrey is breathtaking during June and July when the lavender fields are in full bloom with row upon row of purple stems as far as the eye can see. You can get stunning images among the lavender bushes, however there is an extra charge for engagement photography taken at Mayfield Lavender farm. If you would like a photo session at Mayfield Lavender farm I can arrange a photo permit, just get in touch for more information.

Painshill Gardens, just off the A3, is a large 18thCentuary landscaped gardens with lakes and follies and is simply wonderful for engagement shoots. There is a small entrance fee, however it is worth it especially if you would like to make a day out after your shoot. There is a restaurant, delicious cakes and loads of parking.

If you fancy an engagement shoot in London, the best spot are around St Pauls Cathedral area, Millennium Bridge, Westminster Bridge and the areas around Buckingham Palace. The downside to London is of course the crowds and your images may have other people in the background, unless the shoot takes place really early or late in the summer evenings. A permit is required should you want images taken in any of the Royal Parks. The same rule applies if you would like wedding photos taken in any of the Royal Parks.

Beach engagement shoots are available within the £250 engagement fee, please ask for further information. Lepe Beach, Worthing, Portsmouth and West Wittering beaches are all lovely for evening engagement shoots.

Planning your engagement shoot

What to wear in engagement photos?

After you have booked your engagement shoot, I will send you a helpful brochure telling you what to wear and what to expect from your engagement session.  In short, the following applies to most engagement shoots:

Firstly, wear clothes you know you feel comfortable wearing. The best outfits are the ones that are expressions of your personality. Don’t over dress if that is not your usual style. Be you and wear an outfit that feels like you. Wear outfits that complement each other, that way your photos will blend well. Remember the season and where you are having your photo shoot. If you are in a park or in the woods wear suitable walking shoes or bring your heels in a bag for putting on when we stop for the shoot.  You don’t need more than one outfit, but you can bring a different jacket, hat or scarf if you would like to have some variety.

Never wear something brand new, sometimes you never know how annoying outfits can be until you have worn them at least once. Anything that makes you tug and pull makes you look uncomfortable, and this shows through in your photos.

What happens in an engagement shoot?

Asides from having lots of fun, I will ease you into the shoot and give you easy, reassuring guidance.  Look at each other, laugh, kiss and cuddle, its all about visual and physical images that capture emotion and the love you have for each other.

How soon after engagement should we do our shoot?

This really depends on what season you would like your photoshoot to take place.  As you can see there are many different options and seasons for engagement photography.  Book your session once you have decided where and when you would like your photos, however, don’t leave it to the last six weeks leading up to your wedding as you will have lots of other things on your mind in preparation for your big day.

How do we receive our engagement photos?

You receive your images, professionally edited on an online private password protected gallery within four to six weeks of your photo session.

Can we have an engagement photo album for keepsake?

Prints can be ordered from the gallery and a selection of albums, folio boxes or mini accordion albums are available to purchase, please ask for further information.
